Ian McKown

In Boulder, Colorado, Ian started his tattooing business in 2003. He was inspired by what some could refer to as realistic tattoos. He very recently came into his distinctive tattooing style within this genre. He claims that the discovery of a piece written by David A. Leffel in an art journal was a pivotal moment in both his tattooing and his creative growth. Early in 2008, Ian started working with oils, concentrating mostly on still life and portraits. Since then, he has switched to creating archetypal and narrative-driven pieces, which he finds to be highly satisfying. To create something new and distinctive, he was able to mix his tattooing and painting skills. Ian’s art is the result of his relentless effort and commitment to improving as an artist in all mediums.
